53% of American Women Play on Game Portals – TSN 2009 Report
Research group TNS recently released their United States National Gamers Survey 2009 of 36,000 respondents.
Among the data revealed in the report:
83% of the US population plays video games including 72% of people over 50
21% of Americans play MMOs
53% of American Women play games on online game portals
about 50% of those that played games did so on the PC (we assume these are downloadable games as opposed to playing online at portals)
To us the numbers seem a bit optimistic.
For the global report, GamaSutra reports:
“In the U.S. (58 percent), UK (46 percent), and Belgium (46 percent), gamers prefer to make their purchases on game portals with a credit card. The second most popular payment method in these countries is an online payment account. The survey results also also showed that MMO players prefer using prepaid cards (8 percent in the U.S.) more than game portal gamers.”
